Creating AMI’s using the Deadline Slave Base Image for Linux Instances

I’m in the process of learning how to create AMI’s for Linux instances. This thread is a reference for anyone wanting to do the same and a quick way to ask questions to the Thinkbox team.

Here is a reference from Deadline documentation on Amazon Machine Image Customization https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/deadline/10.0/1_User%20Manual/manual/aws-custom-ami.html.

1st Question

When installing Maya 2018.4 for Linux the Maya documentation specifics to create a license.env file. If your planning on using Deadline UBL’s what do you use for the product key? What is IP the address?

Example (license.env)

MAYA_LICENSE=657J1

MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD=network

SERVER<host name or IP address>

USE_SERVER

Our Maya licensing is actually for a different product SKU. The good news is that if you’re making sure you’re cloud compliant by following their instructions, you should be in a good state and not need Maya licenses.
