Just installed dl7, at the first glance it’s looking good!
And I like the new interface style (although maybe the top shelf icons could be a bit smaller like the others )
I was most curious to see if it would give the actual CPU speeds of the slaves and if there would be any CPU temperature measuring
Unfortunately there is no CPU temperatures that are shown in the slave options
And it seems the CPU speed is still reading out the maximum, system reported speed.
Something discussed before in this thread > http://forums.thinkboxsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11497
Are there plans to include a readout of CPU temperatures and to show the actual CPU speeds?
The main toolbar and its icons in v7 are the same size as they were in v6, and I’m not sure if we want to change it or not. You can hide the toolbar if you want simply by right-clicking on some empty space in it and unchecking the Main Toolbar option (you can get it back the same way). Everything in the toolbar has a related menu item in the main menu, so you won’t lose any functionality and you’ll gain a bit more real-estate.
In Deadline 7, we are getting the CPU speeds that are being reported by the OS, just like we were in v6. The difference in v7 is that the Slave will re-query this information every 5 minutes, so if the CPU speed dynamically changes as the machine is running, it will be reflected in the Slave List. So it should only be reporting the maximum if the CPU is current running at the maximum speed.
The CPU temperature measuring is still on the wish list, but we can’t say for sure if it will make into Deadline 7 or not. The beta will probably run into November, so we have lots of time, but we have to give priority to fixing bugs and polishing up the new features in Deadline 7 first. We’d also have to figure out how to get the temperature on all 3 operating systems. I’m sure it’s possible, we just haven’t been able to put any RnD on it yet.
I notice that I can add Thermal Sensors in the Power Management section.
What kind of sensors would that be, and, could those be read through Pulse/the api externally?
