I just recently installed the latest Krakatoa in 2014. I had 2.1.8.x before, and I uninstalled it first.
I am now finding that I cannot use my Trackview Curves editor. I can get the dope sheet. But when I try to get the curves editor I see a bunch of tiny little floating windows flash first and then I end up with something that looks more like the dopesheet (but missing a lot of controls).
Any clue what might have gotten corrupted? This is causing me all kinds of headaches, as I need the curve editor for tons of stuff. Even a fresh launch of Max has this issue, without Krak as the current renderer. Help!
I am not sure how Krakatoa could affect that, but I have seen lots of UI corruption in 2013 and 2014 that were totally Autodesk’s fault.
In fact, I had to fix my Max 2013 UI last week - Max refused to start due to orphaned temp. MCR files from the newly introduced multi-threaded Macro evaluation on startup. Esp. if a new install of Max does not fix it, a good practice is to try to rename the local user settings folder
C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 - 64bit
to
C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 - 64bit - BAD
Start Max and it will create a new folder with default settings. If this helps restore the TrackView, then you might have to redo all customization of the UI. In my case, I discovered I could copy most of my settings from the “BAD” version into the new one to get back my custom toolbars, colors etc. Finally I located the files that were really responsible for my problem and fixed them while preserving all others.
Btw, I am running the latest public release of Krakatoa MX v2.3.0.54180 in Max 2014 right now, and my TrackView looks totally OK. So I don’t think it is necessarily the cause. But who knows…
Thanks, Bobo. That is exactly what I was doing. I found that folder, and renamed it, and things worked… No I am trying to merge the old stuff in to keep my settings, but determine what is corrupt… sigh
