So I updated the renderfarm with the latest version, and while not being the complete dissaster I was afraid of, it otherwise didn’t go as smooth as hoped.
Preliminaries:
- I am coming from 10.1.23.6
- The clients are installed as service (lets say under user domainname\farmhand)
- Pulse was setup to manage powermanagement, but didn’t want to update?! so I used This Workaround to get it to 10.4… not sure if that is sufficient, but it looks like it works.
Issues:
- Worker & Monitor won’t start on certain clients when not logged in as farmhand
- Remote Commands don’t work ¹
- Powermanagement doesn’t work ¹
- Starting worker while one user is logged in while service is run as renderuser
I’m sure all the security related changes sounded like a great idea, but this kinda defeats the point of a farm if I can’t use remote control, nor powermanagement to start/shutdown workers nor run monitor or worker as one user while the service runs as another.
¹ I assume this is because of the changed defaults for --remotecontrol ? as in it’s default blocked, so powercommands and worker commands no longer work by default?
Any help to get things back up and running would be greatly appreciated.
