Important
We do not consider Deadline 6 to be production ready at this point. If you are in production, we still urge you to install Deadline 6 on a few machines and give us feedback. The faster we track down any bugs that exist, the faster Deadline 6 will be ready for production. Please use the appropriate sub-forums to discuss the software and post bugs or suggestions.
Also, this beta release only includes support for Windows and Linux. The OSX version is taking a bit longer then expected, but it should be made available soon.

What’s New In Deadline 6.0.48777 (Beta 3)
This release should finally fix the issue with Slaves not picking up jobs in the queue. No new software applications are supported in this release because we wanted to rush it out.
Installer Improvements
- The Repository installer is smarter about choosing the default for installing a new Mongo database or connecting to an existing one. If you choose to install the Repository to a location that already has connection settings set up, the installer will automatically choose the option to connect to an existing one.
- Reduced the amount of text on some pages of the Repository installer. This should prevent settings from disappearing off the bottom of the pages when the system font size is large.
- Windows Repository installer will no longer allow you to install Mongo on the machine if the Mongo DB service already exists. This is to simply avoid potential problems, since a bug in Mongo currently doesn’t allow us to uninstall the Mongo DB service without requiring a machine restart in the middle of the process.
- Linux Client installer now sets permissions in the Deadline bin folder properly to allow auto-upgrading to work.
- Added more logging to the Client installers post-installation actions.
Scripting Improvements
- Fixed an encoding bug in the CreateCommandFile and WaitForCommandFile functions.
- Fixed a TargetException error that would be shown instead of the actual error message from a Python script.
Command Improvements
- The -SetUser option no longer creates users with blank names in the database.
Monitor Improvements
- The lists on the left side of the Job Properties and Repository Options dialogs can no longer have their contents edited.
- Errors that occur when loading/saving plugin and event plugin configurations are now displayed in an error dialog.
- Marking multiple slaves Offline in the slave list now works properly.
- Fixed a bug in the database that caused multiples of the same slave to show up in the slave list after that slave is deleted and started up again.
- Now responds to “deadlinemonitor -shutdown”, as well as the shutdown command from the Launcher during an auto-upgrade.
- The Slave Settings dialog no longer complains about the Mac Address Override format when it is left blank.
- Fixed a QChart error thrown by the Manage Pools dialog.
- Fixed an error when copying from lists to the clipboard.
Slave Improvements
- Running “deadlineslave -shutdown” now stops the running slave gracefully.
