IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR MAC OSX USERS:
This only applies to Mac OSX users. Beta 15 includes a key fix for auto-updating on Mac OSX. This means that if you have beta 14 or earlier, you must manually reinstall the Clients again, as opposed to using Deadline’s auto-update feature. After you are running a minimum of beta 15, you will be able to use Deadline’s auto-update feature to upgrade from beta 15 to beta 16 and so on.
See the Upgrading documentation in the CHM or PDF Deadline 6 manuals for more information.

What’s New In Deadline 6.0.50661 (Beta 15)
This release fixes a bunch of bugs and adds a few more features that were missing.
General Improvements
- All Deadline applications should now log unhandled exceptions to the log files.
- Added a new OnJobDeleted event to the event plugin system.
- Removed the OnJobArchived event from the event plugin sytem, since Deadline doesn’t manage archived jobs anymore. If the job is deleted when archiving it, the new OnJobDeleted will be called.
Installer Improvements
- Added custom graphics to the installers.
- Fixed a bug in how the Repository installer reads in a blank user name from an existing dbConnect.xml file in the repository.
Launcher Improvements
- During auto-upgrading on OSX, the bootstrap Launcher is now run with Deadline’s bundled Mono installation. It was still trying to use the system Mono install, which would fail.
- After an auto-upgrade on OSX, the restarted Launcher has the proper icon in the Dock.
Monitor Improvements
- Added a “Delete All” submenu to the job reports context menu, which allows you to delete all reports of a specific type.
- Fixed an error that occurred while using a custom viewer executable.
- Fixed some time sorting issues in the Task list.
- The Slave list is no longer missing the Pin Filter option in its menu. Note that this menu only shows up for a list if you have a filter applied.
- Fixed some bugs in the Power Management dialog.
- The default timeout is now 1000 ms when adding new Temperature Sensors in the Power Management dialog. It used to be 0, which can cause the Monitor to lock up indefinitely if it can’t ping the sensor when testing.
- Right-clicking on an empty Cloud list on OSX should no longer lock up the Monitor.
- Menu items in the Task and Reports lists (like Delete Report) are now visible when the panel is spawned. Before, the panels had to already be visible when you clicked on a job.
- Fixed some bugs when updating the item counts in the lists.
Slave Improvements
- Fixed a Slave crash that was due to an unhandled Mongo exception.
- Fixed a race condition that could cause multiple slaves to dequeue the same task. We believe this was responsible for task error counts going past the task error limit if it was enabled.
- The slave will now recognize if a job’s concurrent task count increases while in the middle of a task. Previously, it would only detect the increase when searching for its next task. Note that the slave only checks for job modifications every 2 minutes while it is rendering.
- If an OutOfMemoryException occurs, the slave will try to restart itself. Note that this requires the Launcher to already be running on the same machine.
Pulse Improvements
- Start commands for Slave Scheduling in Power Management are no longer sent to disabled slaves.
- Pulse no longer crashes when Deadline Mobile tries to connect to it.
- Proper Python stack traces are now logged if an error occurs with a web service script.
Command Improvements
- The -LimitGroups command no longer prints out an empty list.
3ds Max Improvements
- Cleaned up some weird file information that was logged after the scene was loaded.
- The Cancel button is now pressed on the “Image I/O” popup instead of Retry. Pressing Retry could “hang” the render if the file can never be saved to disk.
- Replaced Ryan’s home folder the 3dsmax startup XML files with the 3dsmax installation folder.
Cinema 4D Improvements
- Removed a generic Error handler from the plugin which tended to catch false positives.
Maya Improvements
- Added Path Mapping support for .ma scene files.
modo Improvements
- Added support for modo 7xx, although it is untested at this point.
- Fixed an output pattern bug when overriding the output path that prevent per-pass images from being saved.
Nuke Improvements
- Removed some debugging code from the integrated submitter which caused the script to run twice the first time it’s executed.
- The integrated submitter now printes out the stack trace if an error occurs while loading the CustomSanityChecks.py file.
Softimage Improvements
- Fixed a syntax error in the SoftimageBatch plugin.
Vrimg2Exr Improvements
- The submitter now lets you submit jobs if the source vrimg files don’t exist yet.
