IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR MAC OSX USERS:
This only applies to Mac OSX users. Beta 15 included a key fix for auto-updating on Mac OSX. This means that if you have beta 14 or earlier, you must manually reinstall the Clients again, as opposed to using Deadline’s auto-update feature. After you are running a minimum of beta 15, you will be able to use Deadline’s auto-update feature to upgrade from beta 15 to beta 16 and so on.
See the Upgrading documentation in the CHM or PDF Deadline 6 manuals for more information.

What’s New In Deadline 6.0.50834 (Beta 16)
This release fixes a bunch of bugs and adds a few more features that were missing.
Here are the highlighted changes.
Reduced Database Connections
A cap has been placed on the number of database connections each Deadline application can keep open. The Launcher and Slave are capped at 1 each, and the Monitor and Pulse are capped at 2 each. This change has no apparent impact on the performance of any of the Deadline applications, and it helps reduce the number of connects the database needs to maintain.
Smarter Auto-Upgrading
During auto-upgrades, the Launcher will only try to shutdown Deadline applications that are of the same version. So you should now be able to auto-upgrade Deadline 6 without affecting Deadline 5 applications running on the same machine.
General Improvements
- Placed caps on the number of database connections each Deadline application can keep open.
- The file/folder browser dialogs now default to the user’s home directory, instead of the application’s current folder.
- The context menus for the notification icons for the Launcher, Slave, and Pulse should no longer go offscreen on some systems.
Installer Improvements
- The installers no longer allow /usr or /usr/local to be the installation directory.
- The uninstallers now force-delete all Deadline folders so that they are properly cleaned up.
- The repository installer now creates the initial plugin-merge log in the repository root. It was trying to create it in the repository’s old temp folder, which no longer exists.
- The Mac OSX Repository installer now sets the resource limit settings in the MongoDB plist file to 1024. These can always be increased later.
Launcher Improvements
- The Launcher can now perform an upgrade without killing the Deadline applications from different versions.
- The Scripts and Submission menus now get populated properly on OSX.
Monitor Improvements
- Mass deletion of jobs is now much faster. We fixed some performance issues in the UI code that affected the deletion of rows.
- The Status column in the Job List now shows the number of rendering tasks when the job is rendering.
- The slave reordering lists in the Power Management settings are now saved properly.
- Multi-selection moves are now supported in the Power Management slave reordering lists.
- Better defaults for the statistics date range.
- Added option to delete Pulse to the Pulse List.
- Task progress and status columns in the Slave List are now updated properly.
- The License column in the Slave List now shows the proper information if the slave loses its license.
- Modified pools and groups are now updated properly for offline slaves.
- The Listview when scanning for missing job output is no longer editable.
- The Remote Command list now sorts by Timestamp by default.
- Started implementing shortcuts for pinned menu layouts. This is still a work in progress, so there are bugs.
- Task list right-click menu no longer gives options to release pending tasks or mark tasks as pending for jobs that don’t have Frame Dependencies enabled.
- When setting up job dependencies, the Add Dependency window now inherits the job list properties (sort order, columns, filters, etc) from the parent job list.
- When setting up job dependencies, the Search box in the Add Dependency window now works (pressing Enter to trigger the search no longer closes the window).
- Fixed a bug in the Manage Pools/Groups window when removing pools/groups from slaves while the “Only show Slaves that are assigned…” filter is enabled.
- Changing properties of a job that is dependent on another no longer causes the job’s tasks to be placed in the pending state.
- Added a status tip when hovering over the pie slices of the pie charts that says how to filter the list by clicking on them.
- To filter lists by clicking on the pie slices in the pie charts, you must now hold SHIFT while clicking. This is so that right-clicking on the chart to save the image doesn’t trigger a filter.
Slave Improvements
- The Slave now updates the job’s last write time when dequeuing a task so that it updates properly in the Monitor.
- Radio buttons are used instead of checkboxes in the Slave’s Control menu.
Pulse Improvements
- Pulse now shuts down correctly when it is shutdown remotely or from the command line.
Blender Improvements
- Deadline properly reports an error now when Blender is unable to create the output directory.
Composite Improvements
- Fixed an index offset bug in the Composite plugin.
Maya Improvements
- Added proper support for the Krakatoa for Maya renderer.
RealFlow Improvements
- The integrated submitter on Windows no longer hangs.
Vue Improvements
- Added Vue 11 support.
