Deadline 6 as a service + ? User Rights? + Tile Rendering

Hello,

i am trying to run the deadline client as a service to have Mayajobs rendered.
I first tried to run the Deadline Client normally, which was easy to install and configure.

After installing the client as a service this slave can’t load the scene anymore.
I have registered the Sevice under my own User (the same user i am starting the Client in the normal mode), so there should be no problems with access rights.

My second issue is a question:
Having Deadline run under a application user with all the necessary rights as a service, i only have to share the repository and the mongoDB with this user. I do not have to give read/write-rights to everyone. Is this correct?
Then no user who is submitting jobs has access to the repository.
The User Settings that can be set in the Deadline Monitor only manage what a user can see and do in the Deadline Monitor. Do these settings have any influence on whether a user can access/modify the filesystem that is behind Deadline?

Doing tile Rendering Deadline Maya Renderjob:
How does Deadline react, if one Tile is deleted after this Task is already finished.
If a slave breaks down during a task - does Deadline notice this and restart this task on an other slave?

Thanks for your support

Stefan

Hello,

Thanks for some great questions. For your first one, I think it’s best that we get a job report from you. You could either post that here, or email it into our support email if you need, which is support@thinkboxsoftware.com.

For your second one, there is no connection between Deadline users, and file system users. We do recommend all users have read and write, but as long as the user which runs the slave app has it, it should be ok.

For your last, if there is a tile missing during assembly that was marked as completed, the assembly will fail. If a tile fails to render, though, it will be requeued.

I hope that answers all your questions.
