Deadline 6 Beta - format render output file names?

Hello,

I have come across a wonky issue when rendering files to disk with Deadline 6 Beta. I am using the DL command-line tool to submit new render requests to the queue, and I have setup the following directives for the output in the job file:

OutputFilePath=Z:\some\output\path\here
OutputFilePrefix=comp.1234

In my first test case for a given scene, the render file for frame value 10 is output with a name as:

“comp.1234.10.exr”

This is the format that I would expect. However, if I submit a new job for a second scene I get the following output name instead:

“comp.1234.iff.10”

As you can see, the frame value now follows the file extension. I am using the same “OutputFilePrefix” directive in the job file for both cases. Can someone please tell me why there is a discrepancy in the naming of the output files between these two test cases?

Thanks lots!

Hey Parmjit,

Check the output format and extension settings that are specified for the scene in the Maya render settings (see screenshot).

I’m guessing the first scene had settings similar to the image on the left, and the second scene was similar to the image on the right.

Deadline doesn’t override these settings, so it will use the format/extension settings that are saved in the scene file.
