Deadline 6 server redirecting annoyance

We have a license and deadline 5 repo running on a windows server that is dying ( named Landlord )

I’m trying to prep a new server with Deadline 6 but no license server at the moment ‘Landlord2’ ( productions are still running , so i can’t just yank out a server or swap DNS names around and hope for the best )
I have the Deadline6 repo running on a Centos 6.x server, MongoDB is running, port 27017 is open, DNS is resolved, etc.

However, when i install Deadline 6 as client on a machine (Windows 7 x64) that had Deadline 5 prior installed it keeps trying to access the old server (by now i have uninstalled EVERYTHING Thinkbox related, and trashed any reference to Thinkbox i could find on the machine: regedit, appData, etc, etc.) but no matter what i try, D6 tries to connect to the old server no matter what i do.

Any one else had this? It is driving me NUTS by now.

Aie, the one place you should be able to change it would be:

C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline6\deadline.ini

That’s where we store the Repository location and the license server. If it’s just the license server its trying to connect to, I wouldn’t worry too much.

The license server and our products can automatically configure themselves by using some zainy UDP broadcast thing I cooked up about a year ago. No configuration file necessary to make them try and connect there.

I managed to decommission the old server this morning in between renders, switching almost everything over and doing a temporary MACADDR ipconfig spoof for the license server. Seems to be working now.

Great! If you need anything else, just let us know.
