If you are upgrading from Deadline 7 beta 6 or earlier, you must reinstall the Deadline Client on your machines. If you are upgrading from Deadline 7 beta 7, auto-upgrading will work.

Deadline 7.0 beta 3 and later requires an updated license server application. Please download the latest version of the license server.

The documentation is almost finished. There are just a few areas we still want to touch up. A PDF version of the user manual is now available as well (although there are issues with some of the screen shots we still want to try and fix).

What’s New In Deadline 7.0.0.47 (Release Candidate 2)

This is the second release candidate for Deadline 7, and mainly fixes a bunch of bugs.

Here are the highlighted changes:

General Improvements

  • The Asset Crawler script for VMX is now installed to a vmx folder in the repository.
  • Fixed some errors when using the undo and redo buttons in the standalone Jigsaw window.
  • The standalone Jigsaw window now brings itself to the front on Linux and OSX after updating the background image.

Job Improvements

  • Used CPU clock information is now stored with the tasks, reports, and job statistics.

Installer Improvements

  • Removed authentication settings from Repo installer UI (they’re still available via the command line).
  • Moved each database setting field in the Repo installer UI (server, port, name, and replica set) to their own line, and increased the width of the text fields a bit.

Launcher Improvements

  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Launcher feature to restart a stalled slave from working.
  • The Remote Command Results panel in the Local Slave Controls now has the proper style if being used from the Launcher, and will also close when the Local Slave Controls dialog is closed.
  • The launcher no longer repeatedly prints out the same information to the log. Now, it will only print out this information when things change.

Monitor Improvements

  • Fixed a bug that could result in the Monitor missing some updates.
  • Fixed an error that could occur when clicking on a job that has been deleted.
  • The Use Monospace Font option for the styles panel in the Monitor Options is now remembered properly.
  • If the Use Monospace Font option is disabled in the current style, the specified font is now used properly for the console.
  • The Connect To Pulse Log icon in the pulse right-click menu is now visible on OSX.
  • Added missing tooltips to balancer settings dialog.
  • The balancer right-click menu now has an auto-config option that sets it as the primary (to be consistent with the pulse right-click menu).
  • Improved the pulse histry message when using the pulse right-click option to auto configure it.
  • Removed enhancement where the Monitor show how long a slave has been in an offline or stalled state in the slave list. This is because it doesn’t update rows for offline/stalled slaves because they never update their state in the db.

Slave Improvements

  • The filter drop down at the top of the Slave log window now works properly.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in the slave being marked as stalled after being shutdown by Power Management.

Balancer Improvements

  • The Balancer log window no longer has the filter drop down at the top.

Scripting Improvements

  • Added scripting functions for getting and saving PulseSettings, and for getting and saving BalancerInfo and BalancerSettings.
  • Added Pulse settings to the REST api and the python wrapper.
  • Added Balancer info and settings to the REST api and python wrapper.

3ds Max Improvements

  • Updated version dictionary in 3dsmax plugin to include Max 2015 SP3 / Ext.2 release.

Cinema 4D Improvements

  • Added fix to C4D integrated submitter to address problems when selecting a machine list, limit groups, etc.

Draft Improvements

  • Updated Draft to version 1.2.3.57201, which fixes an issue when printing out error messages on OSX 10.8.
  • Fixed simple_slate_h264_burnins_with_proxy.py and simple_slate_h264_with_proxy.py sample scripts so that they work properly with Deadline 7.
  • Fixed an error message in the job right-click draft submission script.
