What’s New In Deadline 8.0.0.52 (Beta 8)
This release includes a bunch of bug fixes and improvements.
General Improvements
- Updated shipping version of Mono to 4.2.2 to address GC-related crashes on newer Linux kernels
- Added Repository and Integration versions to the About dialogs
- Replaced ‘dbConnect.xml’ in the Repository with ‘connection.ini’ to be more consistent with the rest of our config files
- Fixed MongoDB authentication to always use the default authentication method (SCRAM-SHA-1 on new 3.0+ DBs, MONGODB-CR on older ones)
- Fixed a bug where the Repository connection form could be blank when currently connected to a Repository
Installer Improvements
- Fixed some permission issues with the client and repository installers
- The option to Set Permissions is now enabled by default in the Repository Installer
- Setting permissions on Linux/OSX is now done recursively on all folders
- Setting permissions on Linux now sets the owner/group to nobody/nogroup, respectively
- Removed kernel check from the Linux client installer, since Mono 4.2.2 fixes the kernel-related issues we were seeing
- The Client installer now installs some certificates that are required for UBL
Launcher Improvements
- The ‘Connect to Slave Log’ action no longer shows up when no Slave is selected in the Local Slave Controls dialog
- Updated ‘Change Region’ dialog to include Cloud regions
Monitor Improvements
- Fixed a bug in the Power Management window that could occur when PM groups created in an older version of Deadline were present
- Pinning new layouts will now update the list of pinned layouts properly
- Added ability to create Mapped Paths for unrecognized regions
- Fixed a bug that prevented Jobs from archiving properly
- Fixed a display bug with counts on Slave and Job Report panels
- Fixed a bug where Slave Information was not getting loaded properly with >200 slaves
- Fixed some more model-related warnings that could occur in the Monitor
Proxy Server Improvements
- Fixed some bugs related to the Proxy Server loading repository files on Linux and OSX
- Fixed some bugs related to the Proxy Server’s local caching
- Fixed a bug where the PythonSync folder was not getting cached properly when connecting via proxy
- Fixed some unclosed sockets that were causing issues with the Proxy Server
Slave Improvements
- Changed the Slave to check out fewer Task-level Limits than its max thread count, if there aren’t that many available
- Fixed a socket handle leak that was introduced in the previous build
3dsMax Improvements
- Fixed a bug in SMTD sanity check script where it was trying to use a newer property in older versions of 3dsMax
- Cleaned up timestamps in SMTD and 3dsMax VRay DBR submitters to enforce consistent formatting
- Added dotNet-based command functions to SMTD for file-less communication with DeadlineCommand
- Added the Batch Render submission fix for RE filenames to SMTD
- Added a preliminary UI to SMTD to show/edit the Extra Info Keys and Env.Keys
- Added smart collapsed rollout titles to SMTD showing a compressed overview of the content
Harmony Improvements
- Added Linux support
- Added database support
Houdini Improvements
- Fixed a bug in the Monitor Submitter that prevented some region rendering jobs from being submitted
Maya Improvements
- Added support for Bifrost, Flud, and Geometry caching to integrated submitter
- Added support for Alembic export to integrated submitter
- Added support for generic scripting to integrated submitter
- The integrated Maya submitter now properly orders the Render element folders when submitting a vray job with separate folders checked
