Deadline 9.0.0.12 (Release Candidate 4)

If you’re wondering what happened to 8.1, check out the 9.0.0.9 thread here: forums.thinkboxsoftware.com/vie … 09&t=15144

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL USERS:

If this is your first time installing a 9.0 build:

  • Before you install Deadline 9.0 RC 4, you should email beta@thinkboxsoftware.com and request an updated 9.0 beta license. If you happen to be using Usage Based Licensing, your render time will still be compatible with 9.0.
  • If you wish to use an SSL enabled MongoDB installation, you should install a fresh Repository and Database using the Repository installer. If you wish to stick with your existing Repository and Database, just choose to connect to an existing Database as usual.
  • You should use the Deadline Client installer to upgrade your client machines to 9.0, and not use auto-upgrading.

If you already have a previous install of 9.0, you can use auto-upgrading to upgrade to this build.

Please read the Deadline 8.1/9.0 Licensing and Compatibility thread for important information regarding Deadline 9.0:

Deadline 9.0 RC 4 Release Notes (9.0.0.12)

This release includes various bug fixes and minor improvements across the board, but also includes all the fixes made in intervening builds of Deadline 8.0, up to (and including) v8.0.16.1.

Installer Improvements

Repository Installer

  • Fixed a regression where you could no longer specify the connection hostname or IP address when installing MongoDB via the repository installer.

Client Installer

  • Fixed a bug in the Client installer on Mac OS X and Linux where the .mono config file was being created in the user folder as root.

Application Improvements

General

  • The Deadline applications no longer create “connectReadWriteTest” files in the Repository root directory.
  • The Deadline applications only check for updates on event plugins if they are globally enabled or set to opt-in to avoid unnecessary file I/O.

Launcher

  • When the Launcher service is stopped, it now properly shuts down all Deadline applications.

Slave

  • Reduced the amount of file I/O required by the Slave to check if the Repository is still accessible between tasks.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some last task actions to be set properly in the Slave’s Control menu.

Application Plugin Improvements

3ds Cmd

  • Bumped up the version number in the submission script to 9.0.

3ds Max

  • Bumped up the version number in the submission script to 9.0.
  • Added support for V-Ray 3.57.01’s “Progressive render post-effects update rate” setting so that it can be modified after the job has been submitted.

Arion

  • The full path to the output file can now be viewed from the Monitor after the job has been submitted. Before, only the output directory could be viewed.

CommandLine

  • Exposed the “SingleFramesOnly” property to the plugin.

CommandScript

  • Exposed the “SingleFramesOnly” property to the plugin.

MetaFuze

  • The path to the output file can now be viewed from the Monitor after the job has been submitted.

Event Plugin Improvements

Shotgun

  • Exposed which statuses we are using to filter shotgun tasks in the Shotgun event configuration.

Spot

  • Slaves started up by the Spot event plugin now set their group properly.
