Hey guys,

I’m attempting to render out a straight png sequence (no crazy comp) and am running into this error below. The Workers will take the task, render, but seem to fail when they’re writing the files back the server. I’ve been rendering with Deadline all week with zero issues, but am hitting a wall here. All of my Workers throw this error in their logs.

There seems to be an issue on that line 464 of the Aftereffects.py.

Anyone see this before?

That’s odd, it’s failing to move the file because another process is using it.

I assume these aren’t all trying to touch the same output file, is there maybe an anti-virus scan locking the file?

Thanks for getting back, Jason. I discovered what it was and meant to pull this down.

In the Output Module of AE (NOT the Deadline submission window), there’s a frame numbering setting. You can either set that to start at 1 or to use the comp’s frame. It was accidentally set to the 1.

What happened then was that each task the Workers were rendering, labelled the frames produced starting with 0001, regardless of the actual frame number.

What this error was, was all of the Workers attempting to copy the rendered frames back to the Output folder, but “stepping” on each other. One would try to delete the existing file, while another was still copying, etc.

This might be a known “issue” in the community, however if not, the fix is simple. Just use the comp frame setting in the Output Module and all’s good.
