Deadline Client not launching (QT Error)

The deadline client does not launch.

The error 'This application failed to start because it could not find or load the QT platform plugin “windows”.

Available platform plugins are: minimal,offscreen windows.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem

Can someone please assist? This is the difference if we purchase this software or not.

This issue can be caused by the following:

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Missing or Corrupted:

  • Uninstall Deadline Client
  • Uninstall all Visual C++ Redis (Uninstall from Add or Remove Programs)
  • Re-install Deadline Client

Deadline Client will install the required C++ Redis packages.

QT DLL in System32:

  • Search for any .dll files in C:\Windows\System32 that are titled with qt. Find examples in Thinkbox\Deadline10\bin\Lib\site-packages\PyQt5.

PyQT set in PYTHONPATH or PATH:

  • Check system/user environment variables to see if PyQt libraries are being referenced.

Installing the “Deadline Client” instead of relaying on the Deadline automatic install will help.
Just found out that I have to manually install it onto our whole render farm. In moments like this you are reminded how flawlessly Deadline uses to work and update 99%.
