I’m not having any luck with frame numbering when I override the output.
I’ve been using Deadline with Houdini now for about 6 months. It’s great.
Just recently we discovered the Draft feature and I’d like to use it. Only thing is it requires me to override the output at submission. And I can not get it to work. What is the syntax for frame numbering?
This is for the Houdini
Everything I’ve tried gives me a single frame that gets continually over written. e.g:
test.###.jpg : test.###.jpg
test_###.jpg : test_###.jpg
test.#.jpg : test.#.jpg
test.$F03.jpg : test.001.jpg
I’ve tried leaving the output file off and only the directory, but that results in an output fail.
For ‘override output’ the Deadline 5 docs say to use ‘#’, and there’s nothing about it in the Deadline 6 docs.
Couldn’t find a version number for the ‘SubmitHoudiniToDeadline.py’, but we’re using Deadline 6.2
Any help would be appreciated.

Just a quick update: I believe we’re using Deadline version 6.1.0.54665 R (according to the Monitor at least).

Are you trying to set the padding that Houdini accepts? Could you provide specific steps to reproduce and maybe a render log or two which show the same file getting written to but for different frames? What happens if you don’t provide any padding and just define the output filename as: “test_.jpg”

here’s a screengrab of my submission window. All the settings I have in there work - except for the ‘Override Output’ section. If I leave it unticked then the output set in ‘/out/mantraLEFT’ works normally. Here you can see I tried ‘test_.jpg’ That had no luck.
Here’s a partial copy/paste of a completed task for that job. (I’ve also attached two log files. One with ‘override’ disabled and working, and one using ‘override’ and not working.)

Specifying $F04 in the output file override should work. If it doesn’t, can you send us a job log report when the output is set like this?

I tried ‘test_LEFT.$F04.jpg’ and it gives me the same result: test_LEFT.0001.jpg that gets continually overwritten.
I’ve attached the output log.

I think I’ve found a workaround to this problem. Go to \your\repository\plugins\Houdini and make a backup copy of hrender_dl.py. Then unzip the attached file to the same folder. Submit a new job with ‘test_LEFT.$F04.jpg’ as the output file name and let me know if this outputs the frames properly.
