deadline.ini gets corrupted

We had this issue for 7 as well, but implemented our own ‘fixit’ function, where periodically we check if deadline.ini has the right values, and fix it if it doesn’t.

I had a vague recollection that this issue was fixed in 8, so we did not migrate our fixit solution over to 8. But it seems like the ini files can still get corrupted. Attached is one like that (all bytes are 0)
deadline.ini (467 Bytes)

We did put in some fixes for some encoding issues/differences, but I don’t think we were ever able to replicate this issue or figure out what could cause it…

Does this mainly happening on Slave machines, artist machines, or both? Are there any errors that show up in logs around the time this happens? I wonder if Deadline’s choking on something while trying to update that file, and just borks the whole thing…

I couldnt find errors in the logs, it seems like one instance is running fine, then after a reboot or something like that, the next instance has a corrupted file :\
