Deadline issue

I have noticed that deadline is not showing my jobs but its showing my slaves working and its rendering images, but when i log onto the slaves no frame buffer or anything is showing up like it used to is this normal or is there a setting for this?

Do you have any filters enabled in the Job Filter Toolbar in the Monitor? That could explain why the job isn’t showing up.

As for the frame buffer not displaying, do you have the option enabled to show the frame buffer in the submitter? Also, do you have Deadline installed as a service on the slave? If so, then the frame buffer will never show up.

Cheers,

no i have no filters on the monitor, it was showing up before but not any more am i supposed to run Pulse? or the launcher? if i am i cant get any of them to run.as for the frame buffer how are you supposed to install deadline on the slave? arent u supposed to install the client installer?

Thanks for the help

You don’t need to run pulse for the jobs to show up, or the launcher. Yes, you just need the client installer to install Deadline on the slave. I was just asking if you chose to install it as a service or not. This is one of the options presented to you in the installer.

I’m guessing restarting the Monitor doesn’t help?

Maybe you can tell us more about your setup:

  1. Which OS do you have the Deadline clients installed on?
  2. Which OS do you have the Repository installed on?
  3. How many slaves/workstations do you have connecting to the Repository?

We can go from there.

Thanks!

thanks,
ok i am running windows 7 on the workstations and the slaves

Deadline clients have windows 7 installed
Repository is also installed on windows 7

a question i have is how do you connect the slaves to the repository?
i only have 1 slave and one workstation

Thanks for the info!

You need to configure the repository path that the Deadline client uses to connect to the repository. This can be done during the installation, or after the fact from the Launcher right-click menu. If the client hasn’t been configured yet, the Slave or Monitor should prompt you for a Repository path when they start up. I don’t think you’re having problems connecting though, since you said your slave was rendering.

Nothing sounds out of the ordinary, so we’ll have to do more digging to try and figure out why you can’t see your jobs in the Monitor. Can you do two things for us?

  1. Submit a new job, and take a screen shot of the results window that pops up.
  2. After submitting the job, press Refresh in the Monitor, and then take a screen shot of the Monitor.

Post both of these screen shots and we’ll have a look to see if anything stands out.

Thanks!
