Hello, I’m doing some investigation into Deadline as a possible render manager for our farm. Currently we’re using Backburner for our Autodesk jobs and Keyshot Network Rendering for our Keyshot work. Unfortunately they both utilize the same farm so it’s a pain trying to use both simultaneously. Is there any (or plan for there to be) integration between Deadline and network rendering in Keyshot? Their network licensing is quite a bit more cost effective for us than individual floating licenses as we don’t have any high core count computers. Thanks!
Not sure if this is what you’re asking (because I’m not all that familiar with keyshot), but the manual says the following about Keyshot licenses.
https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/deadline/10.1/1_User%20Manual/manual/app-keyshot.html
Licensing Options
- Use Render Node Licenses : If enabled, KeyShot will use render node licenses. Otherwise, KeyShot will use pro licenses.
- Workers To Use Pro License : A list of Workers that should use a KeyShot pro license instead of a render node license. Use a , to separate multiple Worker names, for example: worker001,worker002,worker003
@panze thanks for the reply. I did look through that section of the documentation, however,
- I think that language is referring to an older version of Keyshot, as they do not make any mention of “render node licenses,” and “Keyshot 9 Pro” is the full featured version.
- Linking to the Keyshot executable as the pathing suggests launches the Keyshot application and renders a single frame on a worker, using one of the floating licenses.
Ideally I’d like to use the Keyshot client system which works similar to distributed rendering in VRay. I should add that I’m no Keyshot expert!
