Deadline Launcher 10.4.2.2 not starting – .NET Desktop Runtime error on Windows 11

Hello,

I just installed Deadline Client 10.4.2.2 on my machine (Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2, build 26100.6725).
When I first launched deadlinelauncher.exe, it worked correctly.
But after restarting my PC, it no longer starts and I now get this error message:

You must install .NET Desktop Runtime to run this application.
Architecture: x64
App host version: 8.0.6

I have already installed the required runtimes:

  • Microsoft .NET Runtime 6.0.36 (x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Runtime 8.0.6 (x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Runtime 8.0.20 (x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.6 (x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.20 (x64)

When I run dotnet --list-runtimes, I can confirm that both .NETCore.App 8.0.6/8.0.20 and WindowsDesktop.App 8.0.6/8.0.20 are properly installed.

Still, deadlinelauncher.exe refuses to start after reboot and always shows the runtime error.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with Deadline 10.4.2.2 on Windows 11?
Any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

We’ve had this issue occur yesterday, but on a machine running windows 10.
It had been working literally a few hours before, then all of a sudden this started happening. Wondering if some automatic update to windows might have broken deadline.
Reinstalled and verified all installs of .NET but deadline was still not launching.

Did you find any reason this was happening or a solution?
We reinstalled the deadline client on the machine in question and it fixed the issue, but worrying that it happened without an obvious cause.

No I didn’t find. I also reinstall client…
