Deadline monitor won't start up

Hi!

An a certain computer (win xp pro 64bit) in our environment we try to start Deadline Version: 4.1.0.43205. Last week it was still working; But now only the slave starts up, not the monitor. We receive the splash screen, but nothing comes afterwards.

These things we’ve already tried:

  • reboot the pc
  • reinstall deadline from scratch
  • change the repository
  • start up deadline without a splash screen using the command line.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Check your .NET 2.0 installation to make sure all the service packs are installed. Also, maybe try reinstalling .NET 2.0 to see if that helps.

Hi!

I’ve tried to reinstall .NET 3.5 again, without success.
When I try to uninstall .NET 2.0 I receive an error alert which says that it can’t uninstall because it would affect other applications?

I found this Microsoft article, which describes how to repair the .NET 2.0 Framework. It would be worth trying this before uninstalling/reinstalling.

Also, you mentioned that it worked fine last week. Are you aware of any changes made to the machine in the last few days? Maybe there was a Windows update that went bad. Do you have a snap shot from last week that you could roll back to?

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the help. I’ve uninstalled everything I could find of the .net framework (included 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.5). And afterwards I’ve reinstalled 2.0 and 3.5 again. Rebooted the workstation, and finally tried to boot Deadline monitor again, and it worked! :slight_smile:
