Deadline on a QNAP Nas VM

Hi there,
we have a beefy QNAP NAS with I7 and 32GB ram and about 50tb of storage.
We have a rather small farm with about 10-15 rendernodes, some in the same local network, some will be in the remote offices connected via VPN.
We´re currently running Deadline on an old rendernode, but want to have a dedicated server for deadline as well as some floating licenses instead.
We´re now wondering if we can just set up Deadline on a Virtual Machine running windows 10/11 on our QNAP NAS instead, but are worried we might have a performance drop, as the render assets and renders are also stored on that NAS and we´re running a continuous dropbox sync on the QNAP as well.
Any insights would be appreciated!

I don’t have personal experience with that setup, but that kind of a setup should be alright.

The major thing to be sure of is that the VM running the database meets the recommended spec. So long as that VM doesn’t get throttled and cause the database to slow down you should be just fine.

The database doesn’t need much in the way of resources, but behaves badly if the CPU is fully occupied by another process.
