Hello! When rendering with expression in file prefix in node, expressions like ‘chs(…)’ or ‘ch(…)’ are not evaluated correcttly

which leads to the creation of the folder …\ch( and it cause an error:

Did we ever work out what is causing this? Im having the exact same issue with houdini 18.0.287, redshift 2.6.51 and deadline 10.1.4.1.

I have an existing setup with expressions in my ROP that worked fine on previous versions, using opname().

Ive updated to new versions of all programs and now its giving the same error as op, the expression Im tring to evaluate is-

$JOB/render/opname("../..")/whatever.$F4.exr (there are backquotes around opname but its not displaying correctly on this message board)

Sorry about the huge delay - but do you have a job report where you’re seeing this?

I want to say I’ve seen this before, and I know in 10.1.7.1 we fixed an issue with switch nodes not getting interpreted correctly.

Hi!

I have the same problem.
In my case, I use Mantra , H18.0.391 .

No problem when using [Deadline Client version 10.0.28.2].
Problems occur when using [Deadline Client version 10.1.11.5].

I am running the “full command” generated from deadline, in the cmd since it gives me better logs.
The problem is that expressions are not evaluated in Houdini for some reason thus the error.

@Ahmed_Hindy thanks for doing this isolation test outside Deadline and ran into the same error with Hython.exe. Though it seems to be an issue with the token you are using for the ROP and houdini is not able to resolve the token for the output directory:

What is the output directory you have specified for the ROP? Did you reach out to Sidefx with this erorr?

well it was a Mantra render in the .exr format. rendering locally is fine but deadline submissions are always problematic in that they dont evaluate the expression.
