I was wondering if it would be possible to use NAS as deadline repository server as well?
Have this NAS:
synology.com/en-us/products/spec/DS1813+
Wondering if deadline repository and server can be installed on it to server as server?

Hi,
How many render nodes are you looking at the absolute MAXIMUM hanging off this system?
If the NAS has an operating system and allows our repo installer to run and is capable of running a service/daemon, then in theory it should work.
[CAVEAT - it also really depends on the performance of the unit model used and I assume you are going to use less than 4 x render nodes?]
To expand a bit on Mike’s thoughts, The DS1813+ is Intel Atom, Dual Core 2.13 GHz, 1 GB RAM. While this probably would run MongoDB, I wouldn’t recommend it. The Atom processor and the low RAM are not suited to a DB use case. Also, while it is possible to configure terminal access to a Synology and manually run things, it’s a bit tricky to get working and things may break during DSM updates. Hosting the repository is fine though and should be very performant for file access. For the DB, a Linux VM instance on a suitable server can work for small- to mid-sized farms, otherwise a dedicated server is best for heavier traffic.
