I spent already 2 long weeks trying to solve Deadline+Shotgun integration bugs in version 8.0.0.55 with Charles Moore from your support.
Record of this conversation is linked to support ticket:

We end up with raport this issue do dev team and I get information that will be fix.

I installed new 8.0.055 and it is still a big bug…

We need this integration and that should work from day one in Deadline 8 - like it’s worked for us in version Deadline 7.2.

Please contact me and fix this as soon as possible.

Hey Mariusz,

I apologize for this not working for you the way it should out of the box. We’ve made some changes to where we store our third-party Python APIs (like Shotgun) that haven’t gone quite as smooth as we had hoped. We now keep Python APIs zipped up on the Repository, and they should be getting synchronized locally to clients in their local cache. This was done primarily for performance reasons, since loading larger python APIs over the a high-latency network was quite sluggish.

Anyways, if you navigate to the C:\ProgramData\Thinkbox\Deadline8\cache\dP7HbqcMnfyfOVCpXDy5xYj4XBE= folder on the computer on which you reported this problem, there should be a ‘pythonsync’ folder. Does it contain anything? Normally, this is where the Shotgun API should be located in 8.0.

If it isn’t there, it must be a problem with the sync – can you provide some recent logs from the same machine? The sync should be happening on startup of most of client applications, so the Slave or Monitor logs that were created on startup would be fine. Note that it’s importan that it the log that contains the startup of the application, which should start with lines looking like this:

Just in case there’s nothing in there either, can you confirm that the ‘pythonsync’ directory in your actual DeadlineRepository contains a ‘pythonsync.zip’ file? This is the file that the clients copy down to get all the APIs, and if it’s missing they obviously won’t be able to do so successfully.

Cheers,
Jon
