Hi Micke,
We haven’t tested Deadline on Vista yet, but we are in the process of
getting a Vista box specifically for this. We don’t anticipate any
problems, but feel free to give Deadline a trial run and test it for
yourself. Any feedback would be appreciated, and would help us prepare
the test cases we need to run.
Thanks!
Hi!
Thanks for your quick reply. The latest client installer I could find on your site (2.7.27948) delares the following when I run it:
Deadline requires Windows 2000 or newer, and Windows has been detected. Setup is beeing cancelled.
Could it possibly work if only that version detector was removed?
Thanks!

Hi Micke,
That would probably work, but we would have to rebuild our installer
first. Do you have a Windows 2000 or XP machine kicking around? You
could install the files on it first, then copy the install directory
over to one of your Vista machines. At least that would detemine if the
applications can run (just make sure you have .NET 1.1 installed on your
Vista machines first).
Cheers,
Cool!
I’ll give that a try. Will let you know how it works out!
It might be possible to run the installer under compatibility mode. that should trick it into thinking the version is XP.
B.
Thanks!
I'm totally new on Vista and should apparently get a Vista for dummies book! ;-)
The client setup went just fine with this option, a few notices on the fact that I have .net 2.o instead of the expected 1.1, but it seems to work anyway. I'll take it out for a spin later and see if it's all good!

yep, we’ve got deadline runnning on 2 vista workstations, seems to be happy. as you mention we get the warning about .net 1.1, however it doesn’t want to install. not a big problem, but its there.
anyone have a workaround?
