Deadline user can't delete

I have a deadline user that can’t delete her jobs. We tried doing it from two other computers and it seems to be tied to this specific user. I am using Deadline 6.1 (Beta 3). These were all on Windows 7 x64 machines.

Is there a way to address this issue?

Thx.

Is the Delete option disabled or hidden in the job’s right-click menu, or is it available but nothing happens when you select it? If it’s the latter, can you open the Console panel in the Monitor to see if there are any error messages? If there are, please post them here and we’ll have a look.

Thanks!

ok, here is the output from one of the attempted deletes.

Hey Christian,

Do you know if they were imported (formerly archived) jobs? We recently fixed a bug – I believe it was in Beta 5 – that matches your description. I’d recommend updating to the latest Beta, and see if that fixes the issue. Alternatively, selecting ‘Tools -> Perform House Cleaning’ might fix the issue as a workaround until you can upgrade.

John, thanks I tried the house cleaning but it didn’t seem to make a difference. We just ran out of disk space on the repository and as it turns out deleting any job doesn’t seem to be freeing up any space. When I look at the console to do a delete it says that the delete failed and to see the application log for details but I don’t know where that is.

Anyway, I am right in the middle of a crunch so I can’t really upgrade. is there a workaround I can do for now? maybe manually deleting jobs? I just don’t know if this affects the Database backend at all if I do this manually.

Thanks.

Hey Christian,

I’m assuming you’re mostly concerned about the auxiliary files submitted with a Job (ie, scene files and stuff)?

Since we have Deadline has the ability to un-delete Jobs (at least I think that was added in before beta 3), the Jobs stick around for a couple hours after they’ve initially been deleted. They should then be purged by the House Cleaning process a couple hours later (this is configurable in Repository Options). Once a Job has been purged, the Auxiliary files should be getting deleted as well… Is this not the case for you guys?

You could theoretically manually delete auxiliary files from the Repository (under the ‘jobs’ folder), but I’m not sure what would happen if you accidentally deleted files for a Job that is still valid.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Yeah, the files were deleted after a few hours. I didn’t realize that that’s how it works but I do now. Thank you.
