Hello,
I’m looking for Deadline Worker Base Image Linux 2023 10.3.2.1
to create a Houdini 20.5 AMI.
I’ve tried to install it on the Deadline Worker Base Image Linux 2 10.3.2.1 with Houdini 19.5.303
AMI but I need GLIBC_2.28
to run it which I believe is available on newer Amazon Linux images.
Also how does the UBL work on custom AMI ? Does deadline handle all of it when running hython ?
Thank you
Any help on this matter please ?
is this a DeadlineCloud thing and do you have a ticket for it? The UBL system works differently for Deadline / DeadlineCloud
DeadlineCloud seems to work magically and is billed, but Deadline original needs a ‘limit’ set for each requirement (HoudiniEngine, Redshift etc) and the respective credit from the marketplace.
I’m using Deadline original, I’d just like to get Houdini 20.5 up and running in EC2. So I’m willing to do the update myself but I can’t find the base image for Amazon Linux 2023 with Deadline. I was wondering how Deadline handles UBL (from the marketplace) on these EC2 workers aswell.
I’m not sure on whether the original UBL supports 20.5
Which engine are you using? Karma isn’t available via Deadline original UBL, but is on DeadlineCloudUBL
It sounds like you’re using Hython, so you’d need HoudiniEngine licenses, plus whatever you render with licenses. If you’ve got these set up in Deadline you should be able to attach them as a ‘limit’ for the instances to use the UBL.
The goal was to create the mantra IFD files using Houdini engine licenses (this could be done locally) and then to the mantra renders using Mantra licenses on EC2.
But the first hurdle in creating my Houdini 20.5 AMI is finding the correct base image on Linux 2023.
I really like the idea of a hybrid farm as we have a fair amount of GPU power in house, but lack CPU power for big renders. Deadline Cloud sound appealing but as I understand it’s AWS only. I hope they don’t stop updating Deadline AMIs and plugins to force users to Deadline Cloud.
