Deadline Worker shows Parsec Virtual Display Adapter as Video Card?

Hello guys,
we are setting up a render farm in our office with having a dedicated render server + all our workstations as one office-pool. We also use Parsec to monitor stuff or use it for remote work, so we also have their Virtual Display Adapter installed.

My Dedline Workers now show that the workers specifications has the Virtual Display Adapter as the Video Card, which confuses me a bit, also because when I try to render stuff on our office-pool the renders just dont start or render way too long for what the rendering is. My 3080 also has doesnt pull power when I start the rendering and Monitor says its rendering on my machine.

Can this be the issue? Or does it not matter what GPU is listed there because, in our case C4D + VRAY know which GPU to use?

Hello @gutster

If I understand correctly, the Deadline Worker show the wrong video card in the Monitor? When you render it is slow and only renders on your machine?

It seems to be three issues:

  1. Wrong video card displayed
  2. Slow renders
  3. Not rendering on machine you are trying to render

I will answer in order.

  1. Deadline asks the OS to give video card information, which is then displayed in the Monitor. It can be fixed but it is just the display. Then render should use the correct GPU
  2. If the render is slow, check the Task Manager> Performance> to see if it uses GPU. Check in the job report what is taking time compare it with your fast render reference
  3. To check which machines can render, right click the job in question> find render candidates. Is the Worker in question (which does not render) listed here? If yes then from Workers panel (right menu) connect to its logs. Are there any errors?

Hey, thanks for the clarification of the first point

We actually double checked a lot of stuff and saw that our Office Pool actually works as intended but is just way slower than your render server by default.
We also figured that some of our workstations have some C4D license issues that prevented Deadline to render the projects.

Hey!!

To compare fast and slow renders I need some data (I asked in my last response). If you are comparing the render time on workstation vs the render node, you will also need to consider the time taken to open Cinema load scene and any plugins required to render. All of that time is offset on the workstation and you only see the render times there.
