Deadline5 + MayaCmd: ApplicationName='/usr/bin/readelf'

Hello support,
Deadline5 work on Linux render slaves. Machines submitting jobs are mixed o.s. (Win, osx).

Yesterday I get repeated error messages, because many slaves will be not able to start maya correctly::

1: INFO: Creating New Console: False 1: INFO: Enforcing 64 bit build of Maya 1: An exception occurred: Exception during render: An error occurred in RenderTasks(): Error in RenderExecutable(): ApplicationName='/usr/bin/readelf', CommandLine='-h "/usr/autodesk/maya2010-x64/bin/Render"', CurrentDirectory='' at Deadline.Plugins.ScriptPlugin.RenderTasks (Int32 startFrame, Int32 endFrame, System.String& outMessage) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 (Deadline.Plugins.RenderPluginException)

But after some time and another bad attempts they started Maya2010 correctly and task was rendered correctly.

0: INFO: Creating New Console: False 0: INFO: Enforcing 64 bit build of Maya 0: INFO: Render Executable: "/usr/autodesk/maya2010-x64/bin/Render" 0: INFO: CheckPathMapping: Swapped "P:/Tomik/TEMP/images/" with "/net/grfnas5/projekty/Tomik/TEMP/images/" 0: INFO: Rendering to local drive, will copy files and folders to final location after render is complete 0: INFO: Rendering with Maya version 2010.0 0: INFO: Rendering with Maya Software 0: INFO: CheckPathMapping: Swapped "P:/Tomik/TEMP" with "/net/grfnas5/projekty/Tomik/TEMP"

Do you have idea, what can be wrong?

I believe the problem is that the system eventually runs out of file handles (used for files, processes, sockets, etc), which results in the error you’re seeing. Eventually, they get cleaned up, which explains why things start working again after some time.

This post explains how you can increase the file handle count:
software.1713.n2.nabble.com/Sock … 43502.html

In Deadline 5.1, we’re cutting down on the number of external processes that Deadline uses to gather system information in hopes that will reduce the frequency of the problem, but hopefully increasing the file handle count on your system will help.

Cheers,
