Deadline6 Windows7 Installation problems

Hi,

I’m having real trouble upgrading from deadline 5 to deadline 6. (I know its a fresh install )
Just so you know, deadline 5 all worked perfectly and I never had any problems with the installation on a 17 machine farm.

I have installed the repository and database fine, I have shared the repository folder and I have disabled all firewalls.

If I install and run a client on the same machine, I can start the slave and it connects to the repository, I can see it in the monitor, and picks up a license - all fine.
NB. I have set the repository location to the network path (\LICENSESERVER/deadlinerepository6) not a local path C:/etc etc.

but when I install and run the client on a different machine, when I run the slave and get an error message about the database (see attached image).

I have shared the DeadlinDatabase6 folder - made no difference.
One guy said something about telnet services, so I enabled them on both machines (disabled by default on win7), setup a telnetclient group - made no difference.

any help would be great

Hi,

Dwight from support helped me track down the problem.

Basically even though i had disabled all the firewalls etc, the port was still being blocked.

So all i had to do was to manually open up the port, and it worked fine.
