Dependencies not working with maya plugin

Hi,

Just did a test with the submission script from maya to do a Mental Ray Export Job and then Submit a Dependent Mental Ray Standalone Render Job, however it appears Deadline does not register the dependency.

Eventually it finds the .mi file once it has been exported but it obviously spits out errors initially as it cannot find the file.

I looked at the maya mr export job log and see some errors that it cannot find some deadline scripts. Wondering if this has something to do with it?

Thanks,

Richard

Something would also like to ask is whether it is possible to append the name of the render layer to the exported dependent job name?

Because when exporting each render layer separate, you can see in the attached image in the above thread that the resulting MI jobs have the same name as the maya job. They are set to render a specific exported render layer mi file so would be good if the job name would say what render layer it is.

Cheers,

Richard

Hey Richard,

Thanks for reporting this. We’ve logged the first problem as a bug and the second as a feature request.

Thanks Russell.

Hey Richard,

The Maya dependency issue and the Mental Ray layer job name issue will be fixed in beta 8.

Also, it turns out After Effects wasn’t setting dependencies properly either when using the option to make each comp dependent on the previous. This will be fixed for beta 8 too.

Ah brilliant! Thanks Ryan.

Hi Ryan.

Happy new year to you!

I just got back to work after the christmas break and tested the beta 8 version.

It has fixed the dependency issue which is great but there is an issue with the renderlayer name appending in the job name.

It appears deadline is appending all render layer names as it moves up the render layer list.

Here are the screenshots.

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks for reporting this! The layer naming issue should be fixed in beta 9.

Thanks Russell.

Will this submission script functionality be included in a deadline 5 update at all?

Many thanks,

Richard

Unfortunately no. Deadline 5.2.49424 was the last scheduled 5.2 release. All of our resources are now focused on 6.0.

ah ok :frowning:

Cheers,

Richard
