10.0.13.6 Release (60bd5de8a)
In 3ds Max SMTD I uncheck “Submit Dependent Aseembly Job”, but it still includes a Draft job that will try to assemble the frames. Am I misunderstanding this? I’d expect no checkbox to mean no Draft job.

Looking at the code, that option only applies to single frame tile rendering. Are you rendering an animation, or a single frame?
Single Frame
Was this reproduceable?
Nope.
I set SMTD to Single Frame Tile Rendering, unchecked the option “Submit Dependent Assembly Job” (the majority of control in the “Tiles & Region Rendering Options” rollout got disabled), and submitted a job. I got a Batch group with just one item in it, the actual Max render job, no Assembly Job.
Submitting a Single Frame Multi Region Jigsaw job on the other hard included the Draft Assembly Job as expected.
Running SMTD with Deadline 10.0.15.5 and Max 2018.
If you could record a video or provide the exact steps that led to the unexpected behavior, we would try to reproduce again…
