Derformers

hi,
is there a way to use maya deformers ( bend, twist etc ) on PRT , like we can do on Max?

thanks

We hadn’t planned to support them directly due to some performance limitations. It is something that we could consider in the future though.

Do you have a specific use in mind?

well with deformer you can acheave some realy nice twisty effect very quickly.

Exemple in the past i used a twist deformer on maya particle to mimic a vortex , rather than the maya vortex field wich is cost more computation.
Also deformers are more predictible, and if you have cached your particle you can shape it as you want with no recomputation. ( very handy ).

Also even if i deforme the maya particle rather than the PRT, the problem is that the render itself doesn’t understand the deformers.

thanks

You are correct, Krakatoa is currently ignoring deformers on Maya’s particle systems. I will take a look to see how we can support this.

Thank you for pointing that out!

thank you for the quick reply!

hope that will be supported soon, at least for the render. ( and even better if the PRT are supported by the deformers  )
