DOF makes me just render black

enabling DOF just renders black in my scene.

v1.0.104



it takes the same amount of time to render and it reports the number of particles correct.

I tried setting the f-stop high like 80.0 or the DOFsample rate up to 5.0 but nothing.



any advice? Is it possible you are using the target distance and not the focal depth?

I tried this out and I can’t seem to cause a black render. I’m trying both the default Max camera and the Brazil2 camera. Would you be able to supply a sample scene that I can look at?



Regarding the target distance vs. focal depth, our current behavior is to ignore any settings in the Max camera’s multi-pass effects. For Brazil2 cameras we use the Focus Distance if the ON checkbox is checked in the Depth Of Field rollout, and the target distance otherwise.

I think it was rendering black because the target distance was 1.0 and the focal distance was 6000.0.



It was using the target distance even though the “use target distance” was turned off.



It might have just been a fluke in my scene.

I would suggest having a Focal distance override in the Krak Camera modifier.
