So our maintenance lapsed (new IT manager knew nothing about the sub) and of course our Draft Tile Assembler now no longer works. I think it’s a bit cheeky to have an in-built feature of Deadline requiring a subscription to function. I know Draft as an external plugin is very powerful but I think you should lose the license check if it’s doing a Tile Assembly.
Just my 2 cents.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your feedback. There currently aren’t any plans to change to change how the Draft licensing works. We feel that Draft adds a ton of value to Deadline, and it’s allowing us to support tile assembling much better then with the old standalone assembler application, and of course it’s allowing us to develop Jigsaw (which will be supported in more applications in Deadline 7).
However, we can understand the frustration when the license expires. We’ll be discussing ways to help prevent, like perhaps introducing a notification for when the license is about to expire (something that would be useful for Deadline license expiries as well).
Cheers,
Ryan
