Drag and drop dependencies - D6

Hi,

Just been trying to get drag and drop dependencies working, have the tick box on, and restarted, although was on from a clean install, and they are not working? Is this just me, or everyone? Love that feature!

Also just on layout, would it be better to have the “panels Locked”, “super user” and “last update” ling on the bottom moved to up the top right? It would give us one more line to have more real estate! Seems like a waste of black space along the top.

Mark

That should be working. I just tested and confirmed here. Does the mouse cursor indicate that a drag/drop is being attempted, or do you get the circle with the line through it indicating that drag/drop isn’t supported?

We use the status bar at the bottom for menu item hints as well (when you hover the mouse over a menu item), so I don’t think we want to do away with the status bar entirely. If you want to open up a bit more space in the monitor, you can right-click on the main tool bar and hide it. You can also right-click on the open space in the menu bar at the top to bring it back. You can also move the main toolbar to the left or right of the monitor if that works better for you.

Cheers,

Hi Ryan,

Ok, so for the dependencies, I drag a job over another, and a circle with a cross comes up. I’ve double checked that it is Enabled. Typically its working on other machines, so its a local issue. I’ve already removed and installed twice to get the remote controls works (as we have previously discussed) I cant thing what I can have done to make my machine act stupid!!

Yes I agree about the bottom info line, I hadnt noticed the tool tips in the left! I’ve removed the main menu so thats a good help, thanks for the tip.

You can fix this problem by deleting Deadline Monitor6.ini and Deadline Monitor.ini located in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thinkbox then start the monitor again.

Hi,

Many thanks, it has worked!! However, when I reload my saved layout, it breaks again!!

To save having to relayout the monitor, does anyone have a gues as to the line I should replace in the .ini that will fix this!! All I did was turn a few categories off, and move panels etc!

Mark

Can you post your saved layout? We can determine what line is causing the problem, and also use it to figure out why it’s causing the problem in the first place.

Thanks!

  • Ryan

Of course. I’ve attached both to the thread.

Thanks Mark! Out of curiosity, were you on the beta for D6? We’re trying to figure out why the drag & drop isn’t working in your layout, and one theory is that there is saved data in your layout from a beta version of D6 and that’s causing the issue.

One thing we discovered is that after loading your layout, we could spawn a new job panel, tab it to the old job panel, and then delete the old job panel. The drag and drop then worked fine. We also saved and loaded this updated layout, and it still worked fine. That’s why we think there’s some old data in the original job panel that’s causing the problem.

Hi, just managed to replicate the issue. I can turn off/on any categories on any panel other then in the job tab. I turned a few off, and the drag and drop stops, turn them all back on and works. Not yet worked out which one specifically might be the issue!!

Edit: now id do, its the job id cat. I can customise anything I want, but turn that off, and stops working. I can live with that!!!

Mark

Hi Ryan,

Is this issue now fixed in the latest beta?

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the reminder on this one! It will be fixed in 6.1 beta 7.

Cool!

Just loaded beta 7 and seems to be all good with the drag and drop. Removed a load of the columns and still works!

Thanks,
Mark
