Drag & drop function

Hi,
re: “- Drag & drop functionality in the Monitor should now work again. For example, you can drag a job to the desktop to copy the scene file there, or you can drag a completed task info Fusion to create a loader for the job’s output files.”

Will this be customisable? ie: when a 3dsMax Deadline job gets dropped in Nuke; create Nuke read nodes for only certain selected render outputs?

Mike

You would need to add your own DropData callback handler in Nuke for this, and its abilities would be pretty dependent on what data the dropped object contains.

Or were you asking whether the contents of the drop will be customizable on the Deadline side?

Yes and Yes.
It’s an open ended question for discussion  What does everyone think?

I think it would be fantastic to be able to customize the drag-and-drop data generated by the Monitor. A bonus would be adding support for drag-and-drop from all of the major views (Jobs, Tasks, Slaves), with customizable data for each (maybe at the plugin level based on the job type for Jobs/Tasks panels).

Basically, I would prefer to define the data and callback handler(s) myself, rather than trying to work with a “one-size-fits-all” solution.

We can add customizable drag & drop functionality to the wish list and look at it for a future release. We just wanted to bring this feature into 6 as it existed in 5 for feature completeness.

Cheers,

  • Ryan

Sure, that’s totally reasonable. I think that kind of change definitely falls into the “wishlist” category.
