What the heck is the Droplet channel for? naiad?
Yes.
At our joint Siggraph presentation, Marcus Nordenstam explained it like this:
Each particle in the Naiad sim is assigned a value that expresses the probability for that particle to be in the process of detaching from the main body of water.
A negative value means the particle is inside the volume with -100 meaning “body for sure”. Values above 0 mean higher probability for detachment, with value at 100 meaning “look, it is flying!”
So you can use this with a threshold value in Magma to filter out particles that should be rendered as foam or mist…
