Edit particle channels

Hi I just just started looking at Krakatoa for Maya and think its very promising. The one thing that im probably missing the most is the ability to edit channels (velocity, vorticity etc…) Would be cool to be able to fiddle with these in the native maya nodes, like ramp, +/-, multiply divide etc… Any plans to implement a workflow for this?

Yes, we do plan to do exactly this. We will start with simple channel operations: Channel set, Channel multiply, and Channel copy (useful for renaming changes). The copy operation is already in the Krakatoa Maya UI. Would perhaps adding global “set” and “multiply” channel operations work for you?

We also plan (eventually) to support of Magma channel modification system into Maya, which would allow even more control over particle channel values. Currently Magma is only in Krakatoa for 3dsmax.

It would be great if you have ability to do basic math and remapping operations with multiple channels together. Especially useful to isolate the more active areas for color in water sims.
For example:
Simple fit operation to normalize and remap values in an individual channel.
Pick the max value between a magnitude of acceleration and a magnitude of vorticity.

This sort of stuff will help a lot and eliminate the need to go back and forth in the sim application (Naiad in my case).

So yeah, Magma in Maya would be super great!!
