While trying to setup email notifications in Deadline (6.1), the test email sending fails with a timeout… I’m trying to see if this is a network/firewall issue, and I’m wondering, which computer is actually going to send the notification emails?

Hello,
The email would be sent by the machine that performs the action that triggers the email. So if a slave completed the last task of a job, and there was an on complete email notification, it would be the machine that would send the email to the smtp server.
