This question is a bit more general and related to 3DMax, Krak & Ember.
Finally I am currently using multiple instances of 3DMax in workstation GUI mode to render to PRT files a particle flow which makes use of Ember (since Ember does not work in render mode yet and I wasn’t able to submit all stuff to deadline).
Most of the CPU intensive stuff is of course the very Pflow which is single threaded and runs on one core.
So I have 2 instances of Max on each of 2 workstations.
Watching my Activity Monitor I see that for some reason 3DMax is using only one core oversaturating it.
It really looks as if 2 instances of 3dMax instaed of a different one core each one are trying to use the same core at the same time.
Pretty strange.
I thought it is managed by system and not only the system assigns separate CPUs to various tasks and processes, but also I used to see that while doing computing intensive tasks, the cores are being switched on the fly.
Is there any way to launch multiple instances of 3DMAx and somehow telling it to use various CPUs?
