Error in read: Invalid class - Error in writes: Invalid clas

On one of my machines, I am getting this in the slave log:

I’ve tried uninstalling & reinstalling the slave but it stays the same.

It’s only 1 machine.

Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks,

Paul

These errors occur when the slave is unable to pull the amount of disk reads and disk writes per second from the system. The error messages aren’t fatal, and don’t affect the slave’s normal operation, but it would be nice to figure out why it’s happening in the first place.

Which operating system is this slave running on?

I have 2 machines that are nearly identical. One, the one with the problem, was running Windows 8.1 but had been giving me problems so I wiped it out and did a new install of the Win 10 preview - currently build 10122. The 2nd machine is new, so I put Win 10 on that as well.

The new machine, when rendering with Softimage/Deadline, outputs messages like this:

2015-05-21 17:57:02: 0: STDOUT: // INFO : [Redshift] Rendering frame 51

The problem machine outputs messages like this:

2015-05-21 23:59:28: 0: STDOUT: #
2015-05-21 23:59:28: 0: STDOUT: # VERBOSE : 5322 - This plug-in has been successfully loaded:
2015-05-21 23:59:28: 0: STDOUT: # <name: Redshift>
2015-05-21 23:59:28: 0: STDOUT: # <path: \ALIENBRAIN\XSI_Workgroup\Workgroup\Addons\Redshift\Application\Plugins\bin\nt-x86-64\redshift4softimage.dll>
2015-05-21 23:59:28: 0: STDOUT: #

If I open the Slave Log on the new/working machine, I see:

2015-05-22 09:50:57: Executable: “C:\Program Files\Thinkbox\Deadline7\bin\deadlinecommand.exe”
2015-05-22 09:50:57: Argument: -DoHouseCleaning True False True

2015-05-22 09:51:21: Connecting to Slave log: Render02
Success

If I open the Slave Log on the machine giving me problems, I see:

They’re both running the same version of Deadline, the same version of Softimage and everything is installed in the same directories.

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks! Can your registry to see if the Performance Counters are disabled in the registry on the problematic machine (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Perfdisk\Performance\Disable Performance Counters)?
stackoverflow.com/questions/2543 … i-in-vista

If they are disabled, try enabling and then restart the slave to see if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

That seems to have fixed the problem.

Awesome! Glad to hear that worked.
