Error installing in windows 7?

Hey guys, bit behind the ball here - just installed max on windows 7 (kind of had to unfortunately) the installer I doesn’t recognize windows so it says I don’t have the correct installer (I’m trying to install Krakatoa1.5.1.38002).
Anyone else tried this? Any quick solutions until an installer does become available?

Cheers guys

We don’t have Windows 7 around AFAIK, we don’t even have Vista (I had to test Krakatoa installing on Vista at home)
Can you post a screenshot of the error message?

Manually copying the files into the correct locations should work. Not sure if that’s in the docs yet. There’s the TBB.dll and helium to handle that you didn’t have in 1.1. We can detail that for you if you’re interested.

From the original post I assumed the INSTALLER did not RUN at all. If it is the WIZARD that does not run, then copying the files and setting up the plugin.ini would be easy. But if the installer does not install anything in \Prime Focus\Krakatoa, we would have to fix that.
It turns out we have a Windows 7 for testing Deadline so we will try to run the Krakatoa 1.5 installer and will see what happens.

I meant extracting the files from the installer.

Cheers guys, I’ve attached a screenshot here
yeah if it were just a matter of copying the files over that would be an easy workaround

So just for the record I’m using windows 7 x64 - 3dsmax 2010 (not that that is relevant right now)

I would have installed XP rather than 7 but my cd’s are in a suitcase in Cologne, Germany and I’m in Australia right now : -)

.exe? What torrent did you get that from? :stuck_out_tongue:

The installers I have are all .msi. The ones on software.primefocusworld.com/sof … a/download are at least. Use msiexec /a to extract the contents.

Thanks Chad, that’s so strange - when I download ANY of those files, it downloads them as a .exe
however if I rename it to .msi it installs fine. So strange… thanks for the info!
