Error: RenderTask: Unexpected exception -

Hi there, Im trying to set a render farm up for my company, I have deadline working on the machines but get this error?

Error: RenderTask: Unexpected exception (Monitored managed process “3dsmaxProcess” has exited or been terminated.

Any help would be appreciated - using 3ds max 2023 & Vray

(Very much a newbie to all this)

You’ll have to read more of the task report to get started figuring out what’s going on. All we know from Monitored managed process “3dsmaxProcess” has exited or been terminated is that 3dsmax has crashed or exited without Deadline telling it to.

Hunt around for lines starting with ‘warning’, ‘exception’, or ‘error’ to see what’s causing problems…

And if you want to see if the issue is with Deadline or 3dsMax you can narrow down that cause with this guide here.

Hey I tried looking into it but cant seem to get to the bottom of the issue - here is the bit of the logs with the error codes:

Still nothing, check the report here in the Monitor and scroll to the bottom and work your way up.

There should be some complaints from Max explaining the issue.

So sorry, still can’t see anything, here is the log file:

No worries, there’s nothing helpful in there. Max is just crashing. Check out the this guide here and you’ll be able to impersonate how Deadline is running Max and see how the failure is happening.
