hi,
i’ve noticed that whenever i’m trying to find out why errors occur, i get an error about writing the log file.
i’m attaching a screen shot.
So the large majority of our reports are stored in two parts; the meta data (which is what you see in the list) is stored in the Database, while the actual logs (the bit that normally shows up in the bottom half) are compressed and stored in the Repository, to save space.
You’re getting this error because the text logs are having issues being saved to your repo. If you go to ‘\SB-DC2\DeadlineRepository\reports\jobs’, there should be a bunch of folders named ‘00’ - ‘ff’, and within those another level of folders. Is that the case? If not, I would run the Repository installer again. If they are there, make sure the check the permissions on a few of those folders, they should be wide open – the folder specifically mentioned in that error message would be good to check.
It’s possible that network issues, or your Repo machine going down temporarily could have caused this. Did you experience any such outage around the time these reports were logged? Or has this been a constant problem since you’ve started using 6?
Cheers,
- Jon
thanks for the replay.
it’s a constant problem. i will ask our IT team to take a look at the repo permissions and let you know what are the results.
