Exception when adding NSS for culling

1.5.0.372xx (the new scripted bits added to 37168)
3ds max 9 x64

I’m getting exceptions when choosing or making NSS for culling.

Specifically in “on ddl_cullingNamedSelectionSets selected itm do”.

Seems to only have a problem with NSS that have more than one object in them, but that might be coincidence.

did a VERY basic quick test. a loaded PRT sequence and a bunch of teapots. Couldnt reproduce it on 2k8 64Bit

My test seems to work as well, can you submit a scene?

Yeah, seems to happen regardless of the .prt, or the geometry in the NSS, so I think it might just be something with max 9.
NSS_Failing_.max.remove.txt (112 KB)

Seems to work fine here. Creating arbitrary selections of the boxes as NSS cullings as well as all together.
Seems fine. Dont have R9 handy sadly.

Try something else for me…

Drag some of those boxes around. I’m getting crashes when I transform multi-object culling sets. I can drag one object ok, but when there are more than one, it crashes.

works fine for me. Tho i wonder if the diff might be that i dont have an actual PRT loaded as it is MIA ? Cause i assume it is plain doing nothing with 0 Particles loaded ?

Just tried with an “arbitrary” prt sequence of mine in your file. seemed to work fine.

Repro in Max 9, cannot repro in 2008. Looks like it is a Max 9 specific defect.
Got Unknown System Exception when updating the delegate’s node tab and crash to desktop when attempting to move a culling object (had 3 spheres).
Will log it as bug and play a bit more with it.

We can’t switch to 2009+ until our current project wraps, but we also can’t switch to Krak-and-a-half for the same reason, so it won’t be a real production issue for us going forward.

I have a related bug to try to reproduce, so I’ll test that in 2009 just to make sure.

I am happy to report that the two crashes (when picking multiple objects, and when moving one of them) have been fixed.
Tested in Max 9, 2008 and 2010.
We have some more bugs to fix before posting a build, but wanted to keep you updated…

Took a while to post, build 37520 should address the crashes mentioned in this thread.
Please download and test.
