Export mesh with colour data

Hi there,

Just a quick question - What is the best way to export the mesh model with the colour data applied to it?

I tried xmesh and loaded that into max but none of the colour data comes across with it.

Hope you can help.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I’ve got it working now. So ignore the post above

Thanks.

Right now the colours are exported as Vertex Colors on the mesh, which I am guessing what you figured out. We will be adding texture map generation in coming releases to bake the projection camera textures into a regular texture map which will allow the mesh texturing to be exported along with the geometry.

We are currently looking at PTex as well as generating a UV texture map, and the associated UV coordinates for the mesh.

Sounds really good! I’m looking forward to that feature.

I know that I am pushing the wrong button somewhere…

I saved out a xmesh…used the xmesh loader in Max, but I am also not getting any color in the mesh.

Help?

I assume your mesh colors came from the particles (i.e, without using an Image Projection inside Sequoia)?

To view an XMesh Loader’s vertex colors in the 3ds Max viewport:

  1. Select the XMeshLoader node.
  2. Select the Edit -> Object Properties… menu item.
  3. In the “Object Properties” dialog that appears, check the “Vertex Channel Display” checkbox under “Display Properties”, and press OK.

thanks…I forgot about that…
