i’m leaning towards releasing fathom in it’s current incarnation as a node-locked inexpensive plugin [e.g. $99]
node locked because for something inexpensive, we dont wan to be hand-cutting licenses and i think we can automate keygen adobe-style licenses fairly easily.
Any chance you can use the Kinect as a dongle? Do they have a serial number or something?
I agree about the release though. Get it out there and use it to gain customers and when Fathom 2 gets developed you’ll have a userbase to hit up for upgrades.
Definitely node locked, but when you say “Adobe Style” do you mean so that we can release it to the cloud and pick it up on a laptop? Because I doubt I’d use Fathom on the same computer twice so to speak.
would be great to have it standalone and not be forced to capture in 3dsmax,
so capture with standalone app the depth images of kinect (no lag, hard disk or realtime issues, all solved), and convert them to .prts with or without max, but being able to capture the images without max would be a huge plus (plus make it a lot more mobile, any laptop could capture the video, no need for fancy hardware or fast harddrives!)
