Hey, I’ve been wanting to ask this for a while, but not sure how difficult this would be to implement. I’ve often run into situations where people want to know why their jobs take so long to finish and in a lot of scenarios it is due to the transferring of huge files to and from the network. In order to find out if the machines are transferring a lot of stuff, I tend to just RDP into the machines and look at the Task Manager “Networking” column to see if anything is happening.
I’ve always wondered if this kind of information could be brought into Deadline as a means of troubleshooting “stuck” jobs (as reported by users) without having to use other tools to find the network usage of a machine. If for example a job is “stuck” for 15 minutes but I notice in the slaves panel that the machine’s “Local Area Connection 1” is doing transfers at 20% Network Utilization or something, I know immediately that there is some localization of huge files happening and the job is probably healthy and requires no further investigation.
